Biography:
Dip received his PhD from this department and took up a tenure track position at McGill University in Montreal before returning to the U of A as a professor in International Education in 2006. He is a voluntary Research Associate, Center for Research and Development Solidarity (CRDS), a rural people’s organization in Orissa, India and President/founding member of a voluntary development organization that has been working with Adivasi (original dweller) and Dalit (“downtrodden” castes) communities on land, forest and food sovereignty struggles/movements in India since 1995.
Projects:
- Adivasi-Dalit social movements, adult education/learning and land, forest and food sovereignty in rural India (Participatory Action Research/PAR initiative with CRDS and other rural organizations since 1997)
- Learning in Adivasi (original dweller) social movements in India (Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, Standard Research Grant, 2006-2009)
- Caste, “untouchability” and schooling in rural India (introductory stage)
